Aasara Pension is a flagship social welfare scheme of the Government of Telangana. It was launched by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) on November 8, 2014, at Kothoor in Mahbubnagar. Objectives Of ఆసరా పెన్షన్
The objective of the ‘Aasra’ Pension Scheme is to protect the most vulnerable sections of society, especially the aged and disabled, persons suffering from HIV-AIDS, widows, disabled weavers and toddy weavers. For individuals not eligible under this pension Scheme, especially those in the unorganised sector aged 18–40, the central government’s Atal Pension Yojana (APY) is a valuable alternative offering a guaranteed monthly pension after 60 years of age.

Eligibility Criteria For Aasara Pension Scheme – ఎలిజిబిలిటీ క్రైటీరియా ఫర్ ఆసరా పెన్షన్ స్కీం
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Telangana state.
- The family income should be below the poverty line (BPL) (Income certificate required).
- The beneficiary must have an Aadhaar card.
- Should not be availing of any other government pension scheme.
- The applicant must have a bank account in his/her name (pension is given through DBT).
Category-wise Eligibility:
Old Age Pension:
- Minimum age should be 57 years or above to get a 57 years pension Telangana
- Special categories (SC/ST) may get some relaxation in age.
Widow Pension:
- Women aged 18 years or above are eligible.
- Husband’s death certificate is required.
Disabled Pension:
- People of any age are eligible.
- Minimum 40% disability is mandatory (SADAREM ID required).
Weavers Pension:
- Applicants should be 50 years or above.
- Must be a registered member of the Weaver Society/group.
Toddy Tappers Pension:
- Toddy workers aged 50 years or above are eligible.
- Membership in Toddy Tappers Cooperative Society is required.
Beedi Workers Pension:
- Beedi workers who are disabled by age and social status are eligible.
HIV/AIDS patients:
- A person of any age is eligible.
